Artist:
Ego Likeness
Overview:
Hard to categorize, easy to listen to. Breathy female vocals overflowing with emotion, both positive and negative, expertly conveying the triumph of survival and the anguish of damage expressed in the lyrics. Musically, similar to Curve in their ability to utilize both ethereal/trip hop and straight up rock-n-roll elements. Highly recommended.
Format:
CD
Details:
EL continues to build on their musical foundation as they did with their 2004 release "Water to the Dead." Some downtempo tracks recall their "Dragonfly" release, but as with Water, this disc is more eclectic. Aviary is a slow, dangerous, smouldering, slithering track that may well be the best Ego Likeness song to date. However, uptempo rockers like Severine and Burn Witch Burn are well represented on this album as well. Fans of Curve and Collide should continue to enjoy new Ego Likeness material, but this is certainly a band that is blazing its own trail.
