Artist:
Estampie
Overview:
Estampie was founded in 1985 by two musicians classically trained at the Salzburg Mozarteum: Michael Popp (Qntal, formerly of Deine Lakaien) and Syrha (also of Qntal). Estampie presents authentic medieval music in a manner that incorporates elements of ethereal, heavenly voices, and new age music. All sounds are produced using authentic medieval instruments (harp, lyre, flute, etc.) and lyrics are primarily Latin. With Syrah's gorgeous, rich female vocals, the overall effect will likely appeal to fans of Dead Can Dance, Loreena McKennit, Hildegard Von Bingen, and perhaps even Gregorian chant. Beautiful and timeless.
